I have something to show you today. Check out those skirts, people! Flouncy! Now, I practically OD’d on chintz in the 80′s. I had Laura Ashley coming out of my ears along with Waverly’s polished cottons and Rachel Ashwell’s shabby chic. I didn’t do the whole house in it, but it lived in several of [...]

Less than a yard of fabric can work wonders on an otherwise ordinary frame. A shape-flattering little number that accentuates the positives. The hardest part about making this slipcover is deciding what fabric you’ll use. And getting the sun to stay out long enough so you can snap a couple of pictures.
My slip is showing.

You know how you have a project in your head and for various reasons you have to wait and wait until you can complete it? You design it, redesign it, contemplate the choices, finally decide on the perfect fabric… And then you have to wait some more? This has been the case with my little [...]

Well, since I apparently missed the Learjet that would have whisked me away to Lake Cuomo for the weekend, I decided to get busy on the slipcover. But first, I got sidetracked by these. I came. I sewed. I conquered! There’s nothing that builds the ego like a successful do-it-yourself project! I ordered these chairs in a neutral fabric since I knew I planned to slipcover them. I tugged and measured, ate plenty of snacks and checked my email at least ten times while working out the muslin pattern. [...]

So for those of you who say they can’t sew, learning definitely has it’s rewards. You see a picture. You get inspired. You find something that’s almost what you have been looking for. But it’s covered in hideous fabric. You buy it and forget about it until you see the above picture. You mesh the [...]
Pull up a chair!

What do you do when you own the perfect chair, but it’s not covered in the perfect fabric? Make sure your supervisor approves the job first. Rrrrrriiiiiippppp the chair apart but take care to remember how to put it back together…. Dig out every last one of those blasted staples … Don’t quit in the [...]
